Jeffrey A. Robertson
President
Jeff is a 1994 graduate of Ohio University (BS – Civil Engineering). Jeff joined CAS Engineering in 1996 and oversees the Montgomery County division, with a specific emphasis on residential development. Jeff lives in Frederick, Maryland with his wife and three children. He organizes the annual Greater Potomac Golf Classic benefitting the Julie Ann Robertson Cashour (JARC) Memorial Fund. The JARC Memorial Fund is valued over $500,000 and has provided more than $230,000 in assistance to charities involved with Neurofibromatosis (NF) or other deserving charities.
James M. Ochs
Operations Manager/Senior Project Manager
Jim joined CAS Engineering in 2002, bringing with him a diverse skill set. In addition to project management and site design, Jim also handles information technology, graphic design, marketing, database development and management, and process streamlining for the company. Jim lives in Urbana, Maryland with his wife Tracy, and their three children. He enjoys traveling, hiking, and spending time with his family.

Survey Project Manager
Jeff joined CAS Engineering in 2010. He is a Licensed Professional Land Surveyor in Maryland. Jeff lives in Frederick with his wife. He enjoys playing softball, golfing, and going to church.
Eric B. Tidd, P.E.
Senior Project Manager
Eric is a 2001 graduate of the Colorado School of Mines (BS – Civil Engineering). Eric joined CAS Engineering in 2003 and is certified as a Professional Engineer in the State of Maryland. He lives in Littlestown, Pennsylvania with his wife and two children.
Jared M. Sims Carhart, P.E., M.S.E.
Senior Project Manager
Jared is a 2012 graduate of Colorado State University (BS – Civil Engineering) and a 2018 graduate of Johns Hopkins Whiting School of Engineering (MS – Civil Engineering). He is a Licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Maryland. Jared joined CAS Engineering as a Project Engineer in 2012 and currently lives in Sykesville, Maryland with his wife, two children, and dog. Outside of work, Jared enjoys golfing, trail running, and homebrewing.
Lane A. Kurkjian, P.E.
Senior Project Manager
Lane is a 2013 graduate of Carnegie Mellon University (BS — Civil Engineering). She is a Licensed Professional Engineer in California and Maryland. Lane joined CAS Engineering in 2021 and currently lives in Dickerson, Maryland. Outside of work, Lane enjoys kayaking, mountain biking, and spending time with family and friends.
Dylan M. Jongerling
Project Engineer
Dylan is a 2022 Graduate of the University of Maryland (BS – Civil Engineering). Dylan Joined CAS Engineering in 2019 as an intern and has been full-time since 2023 as a project engineer and survey crewmember. Outside of work, Dylan enjoys traveling, pickleball, working out, and spending time with family and friends.
Patrick N. Kauffman, Prof. L.S.
Permit Processor
Pat is a 2007 graduate of the Frederick Community College (AS – General Studies). Pat joined CAS Engineering in 2002. After leading a field survey crew for more than 20 years, Pat has moved into the office to take on the Permit Processor role for CAS Engineering. Pat lives in Emmitsburg, Maryland with his wife. He enjoys gardening, amateur photography, and spending time with his wife.
Jacob H. Hose
Survey Technician
Jacob graduated from Shepherd University in 2021 (BS- Applied Mathematics). Jacob joined CAS Engineering in 2022 as a Survey Technician in the field and currently lives in Fairplay, Maryland. Outside of work, Jacob enjoys working out at the gym, playing softball, and spending time with friends and family.
Darci D. Holston
Office Manager
Darci is a 1988 graduate of Towson University (Business Administration/Marketing). She joined CAS Engineering in 2002 and handles office administration, HR, and accounting. Darci lives in Woodbine, Maryland with her husband, two daughters, and three dogs. She enjoys spending time with family and friends, the beach, cooking, decorating, entertaining, movies, and reading.
Curt A. Schreffler, P.E.
Founder
Curt is a 1987 graduate of Carnegie Mellon University (BS – Civil Engineering). He founded CAS Engineering in 1993 and oversees projects in Maryland, DC, and Virginia. He is a licensed Professional Engineer in all three of these jurisdictions. Curt lives in Frederick, Maryland with his wife Amy. Outside of work, Curt enjoys travel, cycling, good food, and craft beer.
